Certified Flight Instructor/Instrument (CFI) & (CFII) Certification
The first job that many career helicopter pilots seek is a flight instructor position since it’s a great way to perfect their skills and build up hours in their flight logbooks. Teaching a skill requires absolute mastery of it. And it’s, by far, one of the best ways to become an outstanding pilot and share knowledge. In addition, a CFI Certificate is an excellent qualification to list on a resume.
The basic FAA requirements that need to be met to qualify for a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Certificate are:
- Have at least a Commercial Pilot Certificate
- Meet required standards to qualify for CFI certification
- Pass an FAA written exam
- Pass an oral test and check ride with an FAA examiner
Utah Helicopter Flight Academy certified flight instructor training includes:
- 15-25 hours dual flight instruction in Robinson R22
- 25 hours of ground school
- Your check ride

- Obtain a second class medical certificate
- Hold a certified flight instructor rating
- Hold a FAA instrument rating
- Pass a FAA written examination
- Pass a FAA oral and flight test
- Meet required standards to qualify for CFII
Utah Helicopter Flight Academy certified flight instructor training includes:
- 10-15 hours dual flight instruction in Robinson R44 IFR
- 15 hours of ground school
- Your check ride

Our pricing is based on minimum times necessary to complete your training and may be higher depending on the number of instruction hours you actually need and the cost of fuel. Any additional hours that you may log in to acquire a Certified Flight Instructor Certificate will count towards the total hours you will need to finish your other certifications.
